SOOOOOOOOOOO.

We are calling all of you to build us this truck, remember it has to be street legal and we have a $50,000.00 budget.

We need to know everything down to the body, chassis and tires we are going to need to get. We have nothing to even start with.

Basically give us a blueprint for your ultimate race truck. Leave nothing out, make sure you are able to answer questions from other members if they come up because we are going to build this truck based on the consensus of our builder (members).

We also want to know what kind of number you expect this build to produce.

REMEMBER THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL AND NOT REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. Unless someone donates $50,000.00 or the parts described, which is highly unlikely.
Buy a 2wd x-cab S-10 pickup from say '95-'03.....we'll say $3,000.

Buy an older Bickel Pro Stock truck.....$15,000 roller.

Buy a bunch of 4130 chromoly tubing and plate.....$6,000.

Call in favors for a Sychrowave 250 TIG and a Hypertherm plasma cutter.....free.

Electrodes and misc supplies for above toys.....$400.

Buy enough booze and pizza to bribe friends with talent over to hack apart the S-10 and graft just enough of it onto the Bickel chassis to remain street legal, yet be pretty much just a race car with working lights.....$1,500.

Buy a crate Duramax from GM Performance Parts.....$10,000 est.

Buy a Lenco, maybe a CS1 but perhaps a better choice would be the LencoDrive automatic as the convertor could help with spool up at the line.....$10,000 est.

Strange Engineering rear housing, gears, and driveshaft, standard fare.....$6,500 est.

Ok at this point we're already $2,400 in the hole so hopefully either the Bickel truck was cheaper or there is more blood left in the turnip to squeeze out because we ain't even begun yet.

You wanted the ultimate remember?

(just wait until you buy a seat, suit, harnesses, helmet, fire suppression gear, and a HANS device...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)

71 silverado on 33's 4x4

Drop on a twinned up duramax, maybe a HTT for the small one, and a Stoopid huge one for the bigger one. With some NOS and propane. and Water Methanol, no intercooler, with some efi tuning, Twin modified Cp3's. Lowed compression also, maybe like a 11.8:1 ratio. Big Camm.

my idea was serious......contact the University of Northwestern Ohio and tell them you got a 50K check for them to build you a diesel powered street legal dragster and they will ask two questions......when you want it and what color would you like it........

Another option would be skip the "ultimate" plans and just use a 2wd shortbox 1/2 ton of whatever make you choose and put the corresponding diesel engine/transmission combo in it.

I still stand by using the Duramax/Lenco/Strange drivetrain....

That wouldn't be a problem.

Body/Chassis, find an old truck for say, oh a grand, do some body work yourself, shoot the paint yourself, I'd say for under 15k you could have a really legit rolling 69 C10 with a cage and a rear and 4 link. There are people who can build stuff, rather than buying everything. That leaves you 35K for a motor and trans, and mic. odds and ends like brakes and stuff, And a built 400 costs about 2000 with a brake. Check it out on Jegs.

Theres a rear engine dragster on racingjunk forsale right now with a Cummins in it for 32 grand, why not just buy that and spend the extra 18 on a nice 12 valve Dualie, trailer, and some go fast goodies
