I know this is old news to some about the domination of diesel cars lately in the 24 hour LeMans, but I know nothing of this sport really. Since speed and fuel economy and durability are needed to win this race, it's a revealtion to me about diesel's ability to meet all three.

Just a reminder to all diesel owners out there that your engine choice is a very good one.

The Audi R18 engines were TDI's. Common Rail and compressed graphite and turbos just like a lot of truck engines.

The racing organizers restricted the displacement of diesel engines only for this year's car to break the lap record.

I am getting a TDI this week granted it will be 1/5 or less hp than these cars but i am excited. I also have a 7.3 and a cummins.

Diesels are the way to go for the frugal and the brute.
