Default exhaust question

im just doin some figurin for when i own a duramax. ok so if i were to cut the muffler off and run say 4 inch pipe to 8 inch stack would it be nice and loud. i ask this because i want to leave the emmisisons equipment on the truck because it isnt worth not running it in my neck of the woods. also can you get decent performance with the emish equipment or can you get high performance emish equipment.

It will be a little bit louder, but won't compare to a truck that has no emissions equipment. For example, my truck is pre emission, which means no cats, and is now running a 5 inch mbrp kit with the high flow muff, that SOB is pretty vocal and has a great sound all the time.

If you get an LMM or newer Dmax it will have a DPF, and if you dont delete it off it really wont have much sound. My uncle has a 6.7 Cummins, he left the DPF and cat on but put a piece of pipe in place of the muffler, you cant even tell its different than stock. If you're worried about deleting the emissions equipment, just get a pre-DPF Dmax, either an LB7, LLY, or LBZ.
