-- I would never mix them.. I'm **** about not putting stuff in my tank that isn't supposed to be there or specifically formulated for such (as in 2 stroke oil or gasoline, etc)

Default help!

My wife just put 18 gal of med grade unleaded in my duramax. Drove a block and died... will it be alright if I drain the tank, change the fuel filter and blow out the lines.. is there anything else I need to do? I was told to put tranny fluid in the new filter and qt of oil in the tank.

why tranny fluid and oil?

Just pump the entire system out if you can do that yourself, or else get a mechanic to do it, then fill the system back up with fresh diesel, should run fine after that. You might need to bleed it though.

LOL I put 20L of gasoline in my truck last week by accident....Pump was covered in snow so I didn't see it said "GASOLINE".... 7/8 pumps were diesel only. So, got it towed right away. They drained and flushed the system out and put 90L of diesel back in the tank.

So I drove it for a week then noticed it was running a little rough. It had been sounding smooth but started to sound rough....so yesterday after work before taking off I bled the fuel filter and it smelled like gasoline....go figure. Well, bled the **** out of the filter, primed the system back up and it instantly sounded way better. Way way smoother... Hopefully nothing bad comes out of that. After they put 90L of fuel in I went and filled up to 180L and put in over 1L of 2 TCW-3....Then after bleeding it yesterday I put in 500mL TCW3 2-stroke and about 72L of diesel....so it should be okay now I hope. What a PITA THAT WAS!

When I did my ford gas engine to diesel cummins conversion all I did was use the in tank ford pumps to pump the remaining gasoline from each tank. Placed about 4 qts of ATF inside each tank. Then filled both tanks with diesel. Truck ran great at first start. Also found when bleeding the air from the fuel system it was easier to prime ATF into the fuel filter assembly by removeing one of the 1/8" pipe taps and pouring it directly into it the fuel filter assembly until it was full. No bleeding required. Started right up and ran great.
