i run the Wal-Mart (N)Ever-Start Batts in mine..... i've had them for the last 3 years or so and had no problems..... i use those felt terminal protectors under the cable ends around the post and i coat everything, once clean (terminal ends, post, any exposed wire) with wheel bearing grease. it heeps the oxygen and hydrogen from coroding the terminals..... it's what i use. i bought them cause my wife works at walmart and i got a 10% discount..... call me cheap..... cause i am.....

I thought he used a jump box like rc cars use...a big gear that spins the flywheel and then off.

Can you get an Optima with 1000 CCA. I've never seen one, thats why I strayed away when I replaced mine. Wanted all that power on those 40 below mornings. Anyways, I've had Interstates now for about three years with no ploblems.

My '99 had the original batteries when I sold it in 2005. Never any terminal corrosion and spent 6 winters in South Dakota without failure.

Keep the f'ing terminals TIGHT and they don't corrode. Keep the battery charged correctly (watch the gauge) and they don't sulfate, boil over, or explode.

That being said, if I was in the market for a new sealed battery I'd buy an Odyssey. Optimas are good, too but I prefer the Odyssey....

We buy our batteries from a local battery store (Harbor Battery, Aberdeen, WA). They treat us very well and can supply just about everything we need.
