Why did Ford not use the DT360?
and if youve drove a 1st gen powerstroke, they arent very peppy stock. After driving stock 12 valves, and getting into my pawpaws (grandfathers) stock 1st gen powerstroke, I just really dont feel a "wow" factor. I mean it'll pull whatever you want it to, but its still kind of a dog on acceleration. but I think it may still have a broader powerband than the Cummins like yall say

That's not quite the same there. The 7.3 and 6.0 are both V8s. Ford just likes to change things mid year. Look at the 94 model year trucks, you had the choice of a 7.3 IDI N/A, IDI turbo, and the new Power Stroke. The PSD option was introduced mid year. But having both as an option would have been a good idea too.

the ford inline 6 in the mustang was a 200 or 250 cid engine while the 289 was 289... however the torque on the inline 6 was higher then the 289... but if I remember right it was only 20-30 lb-ft more.
