diesel newb
hello everyone i would like to start out saying im new to diesels and am trying to learn everything. i have a 96 f250 that has had a 12v cummins swaped into it. the questions i have is, there is a tube coming off the back of the motor on the block that just dumps downword towards the starter it does not go to anything what is this tube? second is how the turbo sits i will get some pics up asap for you guys it seems to sit very low i think it's got a stock manifold on it but the turbo sits down in front of th oil filter, just seems like it should be higher up. the motor it's self came out of a 96 fedex truck so im not sure if all the cummins have the crazy tube dip stick but is there any other style i can put in something shorter? i have a ton more questions but these are the main ones i would like to know any help about any diesel stuff woyuld be great thanks much..

Congrats on having a pretty cool truck. If I was you, I would go post this in the 12V cummins forum, you'll probably get more responses.
1. I've wondered the same thing myself. Has something to do with oil and blowby or something like that.
2. This is a good thing. on the 5.9's that came out of trucks, yes the turbo does sit up higher, but because of that it gets pretty snug with your Ford factory A/C box, and you have to buy a manifold that drops it down, or flip your factory one to raise it up even higher.
But again, post your questions in the appopriate Cummins forum
