I do have an EGT & boost gages. The ONLY time my EGT goes above 900 deg is towing with hard acceleration, or long steep hills. And then, it seldom goes above 1200 deg. If it does, I downshift or slow down.

I'm really surprised at the doubters, as 300 hp on a 6bt is as easy and cheap to do as swapping a holley carb onto a 350 chevy.

Been driving it now for a few years, and it gets 19 mpg highway empty (4.10 gears kill it) and 12-14 towing, depending on how heavy the load is. Not too bad for a 7800 lb truck.

It cruises at 65 mph with a 12,000 load behind it all day long @ 800 deg EGT and 12 mpg.

Try that with a gasser.
