Default New Truck

What do you guys think about the Dodge diesels? I'm thinking about getting an 08 Ram 2500. Anybody on here have an 07 that's blown their mind? I've always been a Ford girl in love with that old 7.3 but the new Ford super duties don't seem to have any ***** and they're not as sharp looking as the new Dodges, and most people with those mid nineties 7.3s wouldn't let em loose for anything. Decisions decisions. If you have either kinda rate em for me. Still not sure which way I'm going on this one.

There's a few guys on here that have. Don't go buying one because of the LPW though because unless they have changed something it doesn't cover anything with a diesel under the hood. (No SRT models either.)

Default Well bleep then

The sorry SOB I talked to at the dodge house said it would cover a 3/4 ton but not a 1 ton. Friggin salesman.

Still might get the dodge though

I saw the sharpest F-450 Dually today. It was the best looking new truck I have seen. All black. I love the new Fords, all of them stink for mileage due to the emissions stuff. I love my Cummins but hate the Dodge rapper it is in. My old Ford with 250K was just starting to get the problems my Dodge has at 120K, same goes for my old 6.5.

I've been a Ford guy my whole life....if 30 years is enough to be a life that is.

To me, the Ford truck has been and always will be the better truck, however, the Cummins engine has been the preferred light truck diesel engine available for quite some time.

How the new 6.7 will stack up in terms of keeping the legendary Cummins reliability going remains to be seen. From personal experience, the Cummins is hard to beat--the only real Ford offering yet that I would rank near the same ballpark would be either the '97 model 7.3 or the 2002-2003 7.3's........

I've been new truck shopping for the last few months. Was one to always say a truck I build myself will always be better than one I could buy. I've done that twice and the payoffs were great, but I sold them anyways (dumbass).

Here in the last year some things went down in my life that gave me new direction--more like a smack in the face--and I've decided there's no use making money if I can't spend it, so I'm back on the market for a new(er) truck. Go figure...

For my money, the new Ford truck is great, the engine, well, I'll let someone else try that one out.

The new Dodge has all the appearances of being a great truck, the engine is new--so far I haven't heard much bad about it other than it's a fuel hog--and yet to really be tested long term. I wrote off Dodge trucks after watching my beloved '99 fall apart before my very eyes, but the 3rd Gens seem to be well put together.

The new GM's have been well-reviewed, and although I love the ride and the fact that my elderly fishing buddy grandpa can get in and out of it easier, it's still way to f'n low for me. Spending 4 grand to lift a truck to the height it should be at to begin with makes no sense to me. (JMHO)

Tough choice, I personally wouldn't at this point recommend either one brand new but if you're dead set on having a brand new truck, I personally would take the Dodge over the Ford, for now.

(and that will leave one more 1997 or 2003 7.3 available for me....muahahahaha)

Hope this helps,

Dan-

Haha that's what I want too a 96 or 97 f-250 quad cab 4X4 but nobody wants to turn them loose or if they do they want too darn much. I wouldn't spend 4gs to lift a truck to truck height either.... gotta have em lifted with the big tires to go along with it I've got blue oval disease so it's hard to buy anything else

I hear ya. I had a Dodge but only for the Cummins, that's it. Might get persecuted by some of my friends for saying that (DM, Whitmore, Dr. Evil, etc) but I gotta be honest with myself. The Ford is a better truck.

Had a '97 F350 regular cab that I put a Cummins in....sold it.

Had a '92 F350 that had an IDI 7.3 that I tuned up...sold it, too. See a trend here?

My favorite trucks are the OBS Fords.
