We want to make sure everybodies opinions to be heard and respected so that he get's the best knowledge there is out there, but's lets be care full with this thread. Since this site has all the brands on it we need to be concious of the fact that whatever the brands you are being harsh about is somebody elses favorite. Just a reminder to make sure we all stay friends here on a touchy subject. Thanks

I don't have anything to compare it to cause this is the only axle type I have ever had to deal with on a daily basis but $2000 will pretty much replace the whole front end if your doin it yourself and that's with better then OEM parts. That doesn't include the axle itself of course.

No offense or flaming intended ar all, But I traded in a GMC 3500 crewcab longbed for my Cummins and I loved that truck, but I have to say that a Dodge rides a lot smoother and steering is a lot better and tighter than any other vehicle I have ever owned. (car or truck)
With me saying this, keep in mind that I am not brand loyal by any means and this is just my own personal experiences.

Now, now.........we are all taking sides. (I know I have.)

But, it seems the poster has not weighed in yet.

Why not give him the say so?

After all, it's his truck.

1. Drove the new GM trucks. They were nice but dollar for dollar, the Loaded Ford had a lot more to offer. I drove them back to back, and the Ford drove better IMO. I really like the way the new GM trucks look, except for that front bumper, It kills me. The Ford interior is by far more impressive than both GM and Dodge.

2. The repairs needed for the front end, have a lot to do with the abuse I've put it through with the big ol tires. Ball joints are known to have issues, tie rod ends are less than desired, and then there is the hubs...

3. I recently made a career move from a cushy desk job, to road representative job. I am now going to drive 40k + a year instead of the 10k I was driving. I probably wouldn't lift the Ford, but just drive it.

Cool. It's your choice.

I've thought about this a little bit and, to be quite honest, if I were in your shoes I'd probably take the advice of Uncle Bubba and keep it. Moneywise, I think that it's probably the best way to go.

Whatever you choose, have fun with it. As long as it's diesel, it's all good in my book.

There was an article in Diesel Power (Last month front of the mag.) that discussed brand loyalty and it was pretty interesting. Basically, they were saying that brand loyalty is heriditary. Maybe, maybe not. Interesting though.

I actually traded an 01' CTD for my Chevy. I looked at all three before I did it and I made the right choice for me.

You have to live with it and drive it. Sounds like you'll be doing plenty of driving too. Good luck with your choice and like I said before, have fun with it!

Personally Jesse it is your choice and your money so it really doesnt matter what any of us say. My personaly opinion is that they are all very over priced and that they just keep getting made a little cheaper.
