Thinking Of Moving Over To The Dark Side.

I have been really contemplating getting rid of old blue. I love the truck, but she is getting some age on her and I am sick of :$: everytime I turn around. I bought an extended powertrain warranty which was :rof a joke and now I am staring at least 1k in front end components that need replaced along with other minor stuff.

That being said, I have been eyeballin an 08 SuperDuty F350 Short Bed, Crew Cab, 4x4, Lariat with all the bells and whistles. I am now on the road all the time and really want to ride in comfort, and after driving one today, I can say it's just that. It rides like a cadilac and then some. I know the new 6.4 has a couple quirky things about it, but so does the 6.7, and GM isn't even an option. So, I am looking for some honest opinions here. If I do get rid of old blue, there is going to be a bunch of stuff for sale. Like my Smarty, Workhorse, a brand new Southbed Con FE, and some other odds and ends.

Jesse:DD:

This is the truck I am looking at but a Crew Cab.

Why is GM not an option?

I don't know about you, but I like trucks where I can powerwash the engine and not have the water overflow over the fenders...

I have a friend that just bought 2 new power strokes for his business, he likes them alot, but as far as the quality of the ride. In my opinion it rides like a freight train compared to my GM. The out of the hole power was disappointing considering the "twin turbos". In saying that he has the exact truck I have except for the engine, and he drives the Ford during the day and his nice truck back and forth to the office.

I would seriously look into the GM, you may be very surprised. This one is my 3rd 3/4 ton Chevy and by far it is the best one I have owned.

Exactly that is why I don't understand the rides like a Cadillac statement when talking about a Ford. IMO nothing rides as nice a GM especially after you put a lift on it.

Jesse, I'm like you in that for a long time I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep this truck or buy a new one. The wife kept naggin at me to get rid of this one all I was doin was spendin money on it anyway. I finally came to a few conclusions.

1. Most of the money I was spendin was to modifyu the truck to be just what I wanted it to be, if I bought a new one this process would start all over again.

2. I could completely rebuild my current truck with a new stronger motor and all for less then half what I could buy a new one for and still keep all my mods that I like in place. Doing most of the work myself I could make this one a brand new truck for less then $13,000 versus a new one at $40,000 and still have to spend more on mods for it that I already have on my old faithfull.

Just a thought.

I tell ya what, I wouldn't buy a new stroker. They have had such a bad reputation with the 6.0 and even (to less of an extent) the 7.3's. What makes you think that this one is that much better? Stick with whats proven. The 5.9 Cummins is proven. I wouldn't buy a new 6.7 or a 6.4 or even an LMM D-max. They haven't had enough time to prove themselfs as reliable diesels.

How do you know the new strokers aren't gonna have the same turbo problems as the 6.0's? They're still young. One of my friends works at a Ferd Stealership and says that they've had one back already for head gaskets and one back already for both turbos.

Just my opinion. The real decision is up to you. But there's my couple cents.
