So I finally got rid of the nice sticky grease and oil.
4 brushes, a lot of hot pressure water washer later. The intake looks nearly clean.

Look, what I have found:

Big and heavy enough to kill your turbo exhaust wheel blades..



These little friends were sticking to the intake manifold. Leftover from a quick factory roaming.

 

if that was in your intake i'd be more worried about it wedging in a valve seat and causing piston to valve issues or enough of that getting into a cylinder and causing severe buildup than taking out a turbo exhaust wheel......

so does the car run better?

 

Hahaha, It's still a huge construction site. I have taken apart everything to get the intake out. Made about 60 pictures- because I almost detonated.
Now I can say: I do not really like Italian engineers.
Found a lot of things to improve and will work further on it. Kevin showed me a very good write-up of his exhaust manifold improvement and I will follow his steps.
I guess it will take another 2 weeks to get everything done.

The intake is real cruel- no wonder the engine is starving for air.
The exhaust down pipe has a huge dent in it. Since this Jeep was only serviced at a dealer we know what that means. The trusty dealer ruined the down pipe.

I guess, I will get the pictures tuesday, so it can be a nice foto story...

yup- intake is done.

Working on downpipe replacement, because it' pretty much useless- the dent is factory made...

Regarding the down pipe, are you hoping to get boost at lower RPMs? how's the rest of your exhaust? ( The more i know, the more i can copy... )

As long as you are not able to understand that you won't get boost at lower rpm without a lower A/R ratio and a different turbine wheel design, you won't benefit from lower backpressure.
Lower backpressure does only assist in quicker acceleration- the turbo spools up faster and it may broaden your power band.
The exhaust also has to keep up with the exhaust flow: More power does also mean more exhaust gasses!
