OK, in this month's issue of Diesel Power magazine. Page 123, on their water/meth installation, where the dude is taking off the intake horn. What is that thing that looks like a mini hood stack comin off what looks to be a blow off valve? Curiosity is gettin the better of me and I gotta know what it is and what it's purpose is.

Wxternal wastegate just exiting thru hood instead of being routed into exhasust pipe.

 

that cummins is non intercooled so the intake horn runs right into the turbo.

so that's what it is? an external wastegate?

 

Yep it is I was reading that article after the mag came out just dumps it outside instead of into the exhaust.
