Stack drone
I'm getting ready to throw twin 8" miter cuts on my 05 GMC 2500HD.If i mount them with an inch or so sticking over the cab are these things gonna drive me bat **** crazy on the interstate? I've gotta drive the truck from TN to Cali. in about a month and would prefer to not go insane, or drive the wife insane. Let me know what you guys think.

Would a single stack have the same problems as twin stacks what Im asking is the drone sound come from the two pipes (synk) up like a sportfish boat will when the two motors (synk)up they make a very noticable drone sound,I have also heard it on old military multi engine bomber planes.Just wondering if it is the same harmonic balancing at work on our trucks.
i jus put a single 6" stack on my 99 regular cab dodge its turned back and its just level with the cab. goin down the road its not to bad until i get to hill. i also found that if i crack the window a little bit its not near as bad. thats just my 2 sence
Yes, it will drive you both nuts after awhile. I have moved cross country 3 times pulling 2 trailers and it gets really old after about 3 hours.
I figured out how to solve the problem though, don't move so far.

Twin turbos or a muffler will quiet it down a bit.
But its a trade off... the higher you make the stack go... the gayer it looks.... but the quieter it gets.
Single stack vs duals have no difference in my opinion. Take from someone who has run both.
