Default removing underhood insulation....?

i took the fabric insulation pad off of the underside of my hood yesterday and was just wondering if it was a bad idea to leave it off? My CAI was rubbing a hole in it so i just decided to take it off now the hood gets pretty warm....just curious if anyone else has done this

For some years the factory didn't even put em on so I don't know what it would hurt to not have it.

I think it's more of sound deadening than anything else. To me it just traps heat if ya really think about it.

There might be different req't for different areas. It is also a fire-extinguishing blanket that covers the engine in the event of an under hood fire.

They may want to re-think that one cause I've seen a few engine fires and it didn't seem to extinguish the fire very good. But maybe it does help contain it. I don't know
