nothing on your car will contain a fire. What things will do is SLOW the spread or give you an extra few second to escape.

In the winter, I would want it if I was in a habitually cold area to help keep engine heat in, but other than that.....

you saying this made me think of using it if stranded in cold weather to keep your self from freezing. Take it out and wrap up in it....survivorman style

If you get tired of the sound, or think that you need it back for any reason, I would consider investing in a foil heat shield. Its pretty much ceramic coated in hi-density aluminum foil. If you live somewhere thats consistently cold then just buy the grill a "bra." It will cause air to become more constricted going into the grill where the radiator is making your engine heat up more quickly, you could probably even DIY it.

B-Quiet sound deadening materials - B-Quiet Hliner

That stuff's not bad, I have used it before.

I thought about usin this stuff around the quarter panels and hood to deaden the sound some but got worried about holdin heat in during the summer months. Is this a problem.

Don't need to worry about it holding in the heat during summer months. While it does act as an insulator, it's more to your advantage than anything else. You would be surprised how much heat is radiated from the sun on the sheet metal. Nothing to worry about there.
