QUESTION ON COPPER HEAD GASKETS
Sorry for all the simple questions guys, im a newbie to diesels aswell.
I had two steels gaskets fail aleady mainly because i doubled the power and torque on my pick up but , does copper gaskets work on diesels.Does it give a stronger seal compared to steel gaskets.

what all do you have done to the truck?
are you running stock style head bolts?
I know I had a problem with head gaskets I ended up finding out one of my main problems was the threads on the front pass side head bolts are actually so close to the water jacket that it causes it to leak up through them bolt hole and from there it blows the gasket. if you take some teflon pipe thread paste and put it on the bolts it helps some and I have torqued them down a few lbs tighter than stock specs and it helped alot. I hope that helps some I don't know much about the gaskets though. I know a buddy had mentioned some nicer mls gaskets and that they work well.

the 3rd gens come stock with MLS gaskets.
the 3rd gen gasket will work fine in a 24V. and I think I heard that they will work on a 12v also.
I don't think copper is a good idea, they won't stay sealed on a DD. that and I think a diesel is too hot.
