Sell the PS to recoup a few dollars. If you can not swing the whole cost at once start saving up and buying parts little by little.
I agree nothing better then a Cummins swap into a SD. But I don't think this 7.3 is that tired yet just has a turbo or a fuel problem.

I personally don't think the Ford interior is any more comfortable than a Dodge, and I have an 18yr old bench seat in my truck.

No offense to the OP, but if he can't figure out what is wrong with his 7.3, he probably lacks the skill to do an engine swap too.

Personally, right now, I would figure out what is wrong with the 'Stroker, and go from there. If it's fixed, but you still want a newer, and arguable more reliable truck, then sell it, and test drive newer trucks.

I will say, if you're going to be towing, you can't beat a dually. Even if you aren't overweight with a SRW truck, you get much more stability with a DRW, and if you ever do need to tow a HEAVY load, you will have no problem with the dually. Not only that, a dually looks 10X better.

I'd love to get my hands on an automatic from a 6.7 Cummins. Way better than my non lock up, 3spd with overdrive tranny.

Hey cowgirl,

I am new to the diesel scene, but one of the greatest libraries of knowledge for the powerstroke is done by this guy who makes a living of fixing the stroker for the fleets that use them to haul and anybody else willing to drive to GA to have him look at it.

Here is is web sitePOWERSTROKEHELP.COM - The Information Source for Ford Power Stroke Diesel Owners

Those new 6.4 strokes are prety powerfull but also big and heavy I think its up to you and what you want to spend I think in this market you can get a deal on just about anything now no maybe it would be a good idea to trade the old one off and buy new If it were me and all I was gona do was tow with it I would buy a dodge cummins for the tourqe hands down stronger on that side of it

It's hard for me to believe that it would be worn out so soon also. I have a 2001 7.3 that was previously owned by a scrap metal company. The truck looks like it was taken care of very well but im sure it has been driven hard. When i bough it it had 140K miles on it. I use it to pull my camper (36 foot 10,000lbs) and it does it with relative ease. I can put it in 6th gear (manual) and cruise all day at 65-70mph pulling my camper and never have to down shift on the hills....its completely stock by the way.

Theres something not right with yours....get it fixed and you'll be happy.
