Default Exhaust Leak 1994 C2500 6.5L

I have searched the forums and have came up empty handed. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I bought the truck for a daily driver at the start of July. It runs alright, I get a bit of black smoke on harder accel, and the SES light comes on if I push it a little too hard, but goes away if I let off the pedal. The engine sounds ok when I am up and going, but it has one heck of a rattle when I am sitting idle. I can see an exhaust leak coming from under the turbo (passenger) side of the engine by the frame, but have no idea how to get to where it might be to see how to fix it. Any help would be very appreciated. I am very new to diesels but not so new to fixing things. A little nudge in the right direction usually is all I need.

You need to check your downpipe clamp to see if it loostened, also check your cross over pipe where it bolts to the manifolt to make sure its not missing any bolts. My pass. side manifold casting has a hole in it, could be that too. A little black smoke is ok when romping it. Check wastegate system for proper functionality, search wastegate actuator, and solenoid. These do rattle some while idle, not like a power stroke, but they do...

Default Thx for the reply

I will be sure to check those things this week. I have some time before I get to go back to work so hopefully the weather holds out. Thanks again. I will let you know how things turn out.
