Ok i have an idea and i need advice on it. how much could you bomb a jeep 2.8 before it explodes. I thinking of stuffing one in a 91 s-10 to make a hot rod. i couldn't find a 4bt that is not $5000 shipped. just a new idea

 

The 2.8 in a jeep is the same 2.8 GM motor they put in the s10, and they were dogs.A.R.I. makes a 2.8 to 3.1 and 3.4 stroker kit for the GM 2.8 http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/gm28stroker.html You would be further ahead to just modify the GM 4.3 ore put a 5.7(350) in the truck. I have owned several 3.1 MFI engines and one 2.8 tbi engine, the 2.8 was a dog and got poor mpg. the 3.1 were strong little motors but not of hot rod stature.

I got ya, have you considered the Isuzu 3.9? Suspension might need tweaked but http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/ make adapters to mate to GM trans.

 

how much power can you get tho, this is going to be be a play truck, drag race, burnout, and so on, off the street

 

I am not sure but I would think you could turn them up better than the 2.8 out of a jeep. There are a few chips for the jeep engine, other than that how much hp can you get out of one of them? Cummins 4BT & Diesel Conversions Forums - Powered by vBulletin If you after big power you should look again at the cummins 3.94bt engine, they are the same block as the 5.9 just minus 2 holes, and can use many of the same mods as the 12 valves.

 

that was my first idea and what i want to do. I just cant find a damn 4bt around oklahoma aera. i want core engine to start with and there all over the net but just not here. i heard you can get major power from them.

 

They also have a for sale section on 4bt, and members could help you find one closer possibly, sounds like a cool project, something like I wanted to do, but just don't have the funds. I you proceed with this make sure you keep us all posted on the progress.
