now don`t get me wrong back in the day when vehicles were selling right and left unions were great but when times change and vehicles aren`t selling the big 3 can`t be paying people $100 p/h to stand around
I'm a tool maker at Chrysler & I don't know of anybody in the union making $100 hr. I make $30 as do most of the skilled trades. If you are talking about the $75 hr the talking heads are referring to in the media, they get that by adding the pay of employees with the cost of retirees pensions & health care & then dividing it by the number of active employees. The transplants don't have the legacy costs that the big 3 have & in their own country they don't even pay health care costs, the government does, socialized medicine. I do agree as a company as a whole they need to change the way the do business. Toyota's highest paid exec. makes a million a year. That's not even a proper bonus for the execs in the big 3, let alone a annual wage.

Im not too keen on this whole bailout business, but if Chrysler goes under that is a ton of people losing jobs.

Chrysler isn't going under, just filling bankruptcy to reorganize. Or kick the unions to the curb and try to be competitive in the market. That's the only way to get the unions out. They don't give a crap about anyone but themselves (the union boss's) and won't give up anything.

The Japs have it figured out though. And 99% of the ones sold in the U.S. are made in the U.S. by non-union employees who love their jobs and who gross what the union employees gross without paying the union dues which equals more money in the employees pocket. I read nad heard some stuff a couple years ago about the UAW trying to infiltrate the Toyota and Honda plants in the U.S. and the employees flat out told them, "What do we need you for? We have good jobs making good salary. You can't do anything for us." I love the United States but the Japs make excellent quality vehicles assembled by American workers who enjoy their jobs. What more can anybody really ask. Anybody who has ever owned a Toyota or a Honda can back me up on the quality of their vehicles

i aggree, i had a toyota pickup for a long time, it was a great rig. i have worked in the union and i hated it. nothing made sense. cant use half of your own tools or something because of a contract. bullshit. im glad i got out of it. in my opinion the union is just a legalized mafia. you pay us to protect you. somethine has to be done to protect our economy, and it has nothing to do with trilion dollar stimulus packages and corporate bailouts. the government needs to settle down and let things work them selves out. all theya re doing is digging a deeper hole for the future. we can only borow so much money from the rest of the world before they tell us to **** off. before you know it, the dollar will be worthless, nobody will have jobs, and everything will be run by the chineese. we are all living in the united socialist states of africa's america.

From what I've gathered in my 26 short years on this planet, where one person fails another rises in his/her (gotta be politically correct) place. Theres no use in trying to delay the inevitable. If they are going to go under, just let it happen. No sense in sinking billions of dollars into it. Its gonna be sad to see some of the stuff go, but thats life
