runnin and fillin
Can you run your engine while putting fuel in the tank? Does it matter if it is a big truck or little car? I ask because I stopped at the pumps and killed the engine of my 04 excursion but the dump the next to me was running the whole time and just kinda qued my curiosity. Thanks in advance

I don't shut it off and the only time I will shut it off is when I will be away from the truck. But some say you shouldn't leave it run because it might stir the junk up from the bottom of the tank and possibly clog the fuel filter faster. I've never had a problem with 3 different trucks now....

I don't buy into that anymore. There are how many thousands of diesel pickups out there being driven hard and put away wet that never have a turbo problem? I for one don't do the cool down thing anymore, nor do I let it warm up much and have not had any problems on the last couple of trucks.

I drive Mack trucks for a company that has about 1600 trucks, you can tell the ones that don't let them cool down cause we are ptting turbos on them around 150,000 miles. sounds like alot of miles, especially when that is a pretty new truck (1 to 2 years old), but most of the trucks have 500,000 on them cause the speedo turns while in pto. I beleive in it and let mine cool for 3 to 5 minutes before shuttin down. Thats on personal truck and work trucks. Just what I see.
