runnin and fillin
i almost never shut my truck off when filling, if im filling up a gasser i always shut it off my reason being is that gas has much lower flash point then diesel and can catch fire alot easier then diesel...
I don't buy into that anymore. There are how many thousands of diesel pickups out there being driven hard and put away wet that never have a turbo problem? I for one don't do the cool down thing anymore, nor do I let it warm up much and have not had any problems on the last couple of trucks.
I dont think most people with pickups keep them long enough and put enough miles on them to notice if it made a difference of how they treated it. They trade them in for a new model before they ever get to that point.
I agree with stkdram55. I shut the gassers off just because of the fact that Im more concerned with the gas exploding from static or anything.

That's where I'm at these days. I don't care if my truck goes 100,000 miles because it will be out of my hands by 50k. I think most are in the same boat when it comes to a new truck, everybody trades them off long before any issues come up simply because the cost to fix them anymore covers the cost of getting a new one every other year. So why should I waste fuel to preserve the turbo past 200k miles if I won't have it that long???

Who says I do? OK I change the oil, but at 15,000 on the diesels and 5-7000 on the gassers. I think it's overkill at those intervals still.
Yeah there aint no reason to change the oil in these trucks at 3000 miles(well maybe the HEUI injected Powerstrokes) most over the road trucks run close to 30,000 miles on an oil change and they run the same oil as we do mostly Rotella 15w-40...i change mine at about 10-12k
