Default buying a diesel

I'm looking to buy a diesel and wanting to here some options. I'm a fan of the Cummins. 5.9 or 6.7 what's better for little hauling and good fuel economy easy to build and drives smooth. And I also want a four door. What should I go with.

The 5.9 and 6.7 motors are good motors. The 5.9 is a proven motor. They both get decent fuel milage, but it depends on how you drive. As for the ride, I've heard the newer trucks ride nicer than the older rigs.
As for towing, they would pull just about anything you want all right.

The eternal paradox !

The cummins with the best economy is the 1st-gen Dodge (89-93). The 89-98 12-valves are the easiest/cheapest to build. Smoothest ride is going to be a Chevy, 94+ dodge, or 05+ Ford. (Although the dodge front ends wear out fast).

Pick your poison. That's why so many guys swap the 12 valve cummins into the truck of their choice. I had a '95 F350 crewcab w/PSD. Would have been perfect for me if it had a 12 valve.

Depends on your price range too. Newer dodges and fords are off the charts in price. And in houston, good luck for finding a 5.9 with under 200 miles for under 15 grand

200 thousand that is
