Seems to have pretty good specs. Plus it was behind a T-19 so I think I would be able make the M5r2 if its the T-19 that I think it is. That Mitsubishi 4D55 is not that bad but hard to get a hold of. Some go for the 4D56T instead but those were problematic.

How would an Isuzu 3.9L do? Not sure how much they even run for, nor how available parts are. Finding parts readily is another key factor. This is making my head hurt

I've found no good alternatives it seems. I may end up buying an F250 with a 7.3L and a ZF6.

So it has been a while since I posted anything on here. Still been looking around for an engine to use. Have been jumping back and forth for a Cummins Super Duty swap but...with fuel prices getting worse now its back to a Ranger.

As of currently I have been looking again at the Mitsubishi 4D56T, Kubota V3300DI-T, V2203 and possibly a small Perkapillar (Perkins made Caterpillar). For the Perkins not too sure on what to look for. The 3300 Kubota seems to be on the high side of things price wise but the V2203 seems to be a nice winner. However let me give a bit more of what I am looking for:

*Torque 200-300ft/lbs would be where I would be happy at.

*Engine weight under 700lbs

*Parts availability would have to be near abundant without breaking the bank

*Mechanical injected or stone age simple electronics

*Possibly looking at doing in the future of either doing a compound or twin turbo setup

*High 20s mid 30s mpgs

*3.55-4.10 gear ratio setup

*Leaning towards more so now a manual (getting much better at driving them now) though if I am going with one its either the M5R1 or M5R2 with a short throw conversion if I can find one.

I'm probably asking for way more than I should. Power wise mainly cause I have a 1977 StarCraft 17' boat with an Evinrude 70hp engine that we pull around or at least use to when it ran and we need the power to pull it in and out of the boat launch.

This is really an interesting idea. I like it man.

Well that MB might work good in a Cherokee but I doubt you'll ever get north of 200 ft lbs of tq with it...
