I'm new to the forum and new to Powerstrokes altogether. I know I need to do a couple necessary mods to the 6.0L so I don't have a serious failure.. so I'm looking into the Sinister kit that deletes the egr valve, egr cooler, comes with the oil cooler and coolant filter also. As far as the tuner/tunes, I have no clue what to get. I see everyone talking about SCT. What is that?! I've become more and more confused the more I research it. I'm ok with a wrench, but am gonna have a Ford diesel mechanic do all the work. What tuner do you guys recommend and what tune/tunes? My truck already has a 4" straight pipe from the turbo and outlets just before passenger tire.. which I don't know if I love or hate. I'm willing to upgrade to 5" pipe if necessary. I mostly just drive 60-100 miles one way to work, but honestly want something I can have fun with also. I'm only 31... c'mon, I wanna be able to make the fiance and our 3 kids hide their faces in shame now and then. haha. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Info about the truck- 05 F250 6.0L auto 3.73 crew cab 4x4 145k. quite honestly runs stronger than I thought it would. I had a 95 cummins 2500 before that was turned up and this truck runs circles around it. Right now it's got a k&n filter/cold air intake, mbrp exhaust, no tuner or chip that I can find

no need for five inch exhaust. have the tech check if you have the updated stc fitting at the hpop while doing the other work. Would be a good time to switch to ec-1 coolant. Its cat specified but, you can buy zerex brand. SCT is awesome for 6.0s. check innovative diesel. They have real good tunes. You can buy the sct preloaded with their tunes.
