oh trust me im not gonna lug my truck to death. not purposely, but once i learn to drive one better ill be good! i dont want it to smoke like death but i dont want it to "appear" bone stock either. minimal smoke. id love to put injectors, but i havent a clue how to do that haha! might look into it. i just want it to last is all.

is there documented cases of people running programmers for hundreds of thousands of miles? i mean my buddy ran an edge in his 04.5 for about 40k miles and blew his engine up. i mean i dont know what caused it, but just know he ran an edge.

id put the 60 hp tune on it if i knew it wouldnt change the lifespan or reliability of the engine.

trust me... i got 3 hours of sleep last night thinking about how awesome wednesday was going to be.. idk how itll be tonight

but i wont buy the truck til friday when dad can come. but im looking at it tomorrow, if it all checks out, im shaking his hand and bringing him cash friday! im excited!

The edge for the Common Rails are harsh but for the VP44 there ok and safe, depends how you set the programmer if you romp it stomp it at the highest settin then ya your gonna cause issues, my buddies 99 has 120K with the edge ez and she runs good. I dont have jack squat on my pick up was gonne get an Edge Ez till my injectors gave me trouble. If you have a 19MM crows foot and some Metric Socket wrenches and a long screw driver and Inch pound torque wrench I can tell you how to replace injectors its faily ez. It took me only two hours to replace injectors and another two to paint my valve covers, boost elbow and intake horn... Im gettin all excited for ya !!! The guy I bough my truck from cried becuase he bout a 6.4L Power stroke and hated it!!! but he traded it for a 03 cummins so hes happy now and glad he sold it to someone whos takin care of her...

i have all that. im mechanically inclined, just havent really ever had the ability to do anything.. we cant really afford a garage so all my work is done usually out in the awesome kentucky rain........

has he had the edge ez for all 120k miles and no problems?? well idk if i want to risk it with injectors. i literally am gonna have to take every paycheck and buy a little bit at once.. badges, mirrors, everything i listed yesterday

Yep just take an easy when your in the higher settings if your in one most of the time and two when your towing and three when you think the ricer burner bouncin off the ground from the BASS deserves a taste of CUMMINS give it to him... Like I said one Piece at a time like johnny cash done it.. I can handle rain take a tarp and magnets and put it over my cab and nail the other side to the house... Its -20 degress and diesel I cant handle... With the edge EZ level one basically the fuel milage setting since I cant find the max milage any more... 2 and 3 are power settings... its good if you want a lilttle extra power here and there when you need it... Now if you get into performance Smarty or the Edge Comp Box... THEN youll need some good sticks... Oh also one of the first things I would do to your truck is valve lash..... its bout time to do em. I have kinda had no life lately, things arent breaking on the ranch for once.. KNOCK ON WOOD.. and College started back up thank the lord its my last semester...

ALSO ill be glad to take your rain just send it my way...

hmm ill definitely look into the edge ez then! thank you. anywhere i can get it for cheap? ive been making a list of things i need to buy. id probably keep my rain before id take -20! it gets to around 10 degrees here and i feel like im getting hypothermia! ill probably run it on lowest setting anyway, and probably wont get into performance. i just started college actually today was my 3rd day. i need something reliable to get me from point A to point B. and the occasional horse trailer/hay puller!

i would be terrified of taking the valve cover off and doing all that. never even attempted to mess with anything like that. most major repair ive done to a truck is new intake gasket, and valve cover gasket

what will it do if its not aligned correctly? am i to worry about this? should i have someone do it for me when i buy the truck?

Its just something that needs to be done everynow and then, I would suggest it helps from losing power and bad milage. It 80 bucks to do it here at the local dealer ship but its free 99 for me since I can do it. Its not a major issue and for all I know you can still be within spec's but its not LIFE AND DEATH!! mine didnt get done till I bought it with 200K on it... But sure helps turbo spool and power. Schedual A is at 130K and Schedual B is at 150K I think Im gonna do mine once a year isnt hard to do well for me anyways. the hardest part gettin the cover off. Valve lash is adjusting the gap between the rocker assembly and the valves that push the valves down.Today was my second day for school and goin on for the third year this is my last semester and i will have walked away with an Associates in Applied Science and a Certificate In Heavy Equipment and Diesel Repair and a Semester of precesion machining, and a semester of welding/ pipe welding. Now all I need is more experince in my trade and expand my knoweledge farther than just Cummins and the 7.3L Strokers..Maybe should have taken a typing class my spelling horrible on here ! And just for good measures and showin off here what I did to my valve covers... and maybe to torture you a little more tonight... also good luck in your schooling what you goin for?...

If they are a diesel mechanic yes unless you kentucky people have your own language... or you can say Adjusting Valves <----- that may be the safer phrase. Well glad you can do electicity when people want me to wire crap I say hell no, Ill turn wrenches and tear a motor apart before I dink around with 120-460 volts.
