I been using a somewhat similar filtering setup and considering adding a centrifuge.

Supr10, where'd you get the OC20 centrifuge?

Diesel Craft is the manufacture Dieselcraft Home Page - Oil Cleaning and Fuel Polishing Solutions but you can pick them up from several different places. If you google you can find tons of um... I purchased mine second hand from a guy on another diesel forum. My biggest hurdle has been getting my pump set up for 70 ish PSI... 40 to 50 psi is very doable and doesn't put much stress on a 1/3 horse motor... when you start going up from there

I'm thinking about running WMO in my '91 since I'm a mechanic and have access to unlimited amounts of it

I just need to figure out a good way to filter it.

Gravity works pretty good if you have alot of it and you are not in any hurry.

I've been researching this and I was wondering if there are any types of oil that should not be used as fuel?

I have a source for lots of used 80-90 gear oil but I'm not sure if it would be to thick, I can also get lots of trans-hydraulic fluid but it sounds like that should be fine.

I know there are some that will say that no oil should ever be used as fuel, but it looks like lots of people have had success with filtered WMO, so has anyone experimented with other types of oil?

It depends on the treat rate. As an additive, diluted down to ratios as high as 200-1 which most people use as baseline for things like 2-stroke, gear oil viscosity is no issue.

I have heard people running WMO at levels as high as 1-1, half a tank of oil to fuel. I guess they must have alot of waste oil available and cannot afford fuel. I run at about 60-1 and use everything: Motor oil, ATF, PS fluid, gear oil, whatever.

So at 60-1 you?ve had no problems with other types of oil? do you generally mix all your oils together or do you try to keep them separate? I was thinking if I was to mix some trans-hydraulic fluid with the gear oil it should also thin the gear oil somewhat.

Also what is the coldest temperature you've run WMO in your truck?

What would be the worst case scenario if the oil is properly filtered? if I got to thick of a mixture, would it do much more than clog my fuel filter and/or make my truck run terrible until I flushed it out with diesel?

Thanks NadirPoint, you seem to have the most experience with this I just want to cover all my bases so I don't make any stupid/expensive mistakes

I mix it all together in the collection and filtering process, but it ends up being probably around 90% engine oil by my use/change habits at the end of the day. It's run year round, a few times as low as -20F winter before last, IIRC. Like I said, it has no significant effect on the fuel's viscosity if the treat rate is reasonable . I can't speak for any higher add rates or answer your other questions except to say that diesel fuel systems are very sensitive to contamination issues of all kinds. Water, particulate, lack of lubricity etc. That's why they are equipped with water-separating filters from the factory.

Just bear that in mind.

I have heard that one shouldn't and/or couldnt burn synthetic motor oil..is this true? becuase we use amsoil, and id like to use that in my tank. just curious.
