I have a 1986 Ford Ranger with a Mitsubishi 455TD that I am thinking about selling. I am the third owner and have every record for the vehicle from the day it was purchased at the dealer. I also have the complete set of the factory Ford manuals that will go with the truck. I enjoy working on small diesels and purchased this truck not running with a leaking injector pump a few years back. I had the pump rebuilt and put a complete new timing set along with a fuel pump on the truck. The truck is in the low 100K on mileage, has new tires and runs great. However, I have two many vehicles at the house and need to make some room. I am asking $3,500 for the truck. Let me know if you are interested by pm.

Just curious if these trucks are as slow as the old Isuzu pup's if you have any experience with them. I may be interested but have never drove or even seen a diesel Ranger in person. I know the Isuzu that my brother drives has to be to the floor to even think about keeping up with city traffic. Even driving it like a madman it still gets 28 mpg which is much better than both our 7.3's. Pm me some pics if you don't mind or call me at 912-429-0172. I'm in Savannah so its not too far away. What kind of mpg does it get?

Montgomery P-Stroke & ivorsparks,

Believe it or not, I still have the 86 Ranger and would be willing to sell it. If you're interested, send me a PM. I promise I'll keep a check on my inbox this time if anyone else is interested.

From what I understand, a four-cylinder 59 hp 2.2 L Mazda/Perkins diesel was available up to 1985, then in 1986, a Mitsubishi-built 2.3 L turbo-diesel (4D55) with 86 hp replaced the Mazda/Perkins diesel engine.
