Who pays?
OK here's the story. I bought a 2002 7.3 f350 4x4 on Friday night. Saturday I take it to the dealer to make sure the oil is changed and everything is ok.
Let me say this first, it did NOT leak a drop at my house over night.
So I take it in for a oil change at Earnharts Ford. The ASE certified mechanic comes in and I hear him tell the service lady he is having a hard time removing the oil filter. The he tells her he is going to use his air chizzle to remove the filter.
Well 5 hours later they pull up my truck and I pay and walk outside. It lost about half a quart of oil sitting there. They pull it back into the shop and oil is coming from the big tube up above the oil filter. 30 min later they tell me it is going to cost ME $200-$500 to fix because the oil filter was so hard to remove.
They then tell me that this is There cost on the parts and time and I should be happy with it.
Should I have to pay for them to fix this?
Yes this is a FORD Dealer in Chandler,AZ. They specialize in Diesels they say.
I'm really trying not to add my .02 into this so I don't sway any opinions, just the facts.
On a side note if I tell them I'm Not going to pay for it they then Jerry rig it and send me on my way.
If I tell them to fix it and I'll pay I feel they are just trying to rip me off and I won't sleep for a week because a dealer is doing dealer things.

I would ask to speak to the general manager and if you get nowhere with him ask to speak to the owner, if you have to tell them you will bad mouth them to the end of the earth. They will rather eat the cost of the repair, wich of course is way less than what they quoted you, than have the bad publicity.
