Default Overhead Light Problem

I'm not entirely sure this is the right place to post, but I wanna address the 99-07 Ford guys specifically...

I installed a set of Recon overhead lights on my moms (soon to be mine) 06 F350 PSD and they worked great for the past two weeks. Tonight, coming home, I lost my running lights, gauge lights. All I had was headlamps. The fuse blew. However the problem wasn't that easy. I ended up blowing the replacement fuse, which led me to look under the hood. The power cable for the overheads (tapped into my amber running light in the headlamp) is fried.

As of right now I just cut the line to the overheads, and got my gauge, running lights, working again. However I would like to get those overheads working again.

Suggestions on possible fixes, what may be my problem...

Thanks in advance for the help!

you got a hot wire grounding somewhere on lights would be my guess.
