i think some of the 7.3 guys still do. It jacks with the timing and supposedy gives better response on the throttle or something... but makes it idle rough i have heard.

They are a waste of time... Basically they bump up the ICP so the computer throws more fuel. There have been many variations including 10K, 18K, the adjustable mentioned above, and of course the overly expensive Edge EZ. All of these can be accomplished with about $1.50 worth of parts and resistors from Radio Shack. I never could under stand why someone would spend more than $10 on a premade one. But lots of people do!

Nowadays we can increase so many parameters (including ICP) in tuning on a chip, that you will see less and less 10K mods.

Actually I have done quite a few of these , I was Checking the response ,,,

Go to radio shack and get a strip of 10K Resistors ,

Take a 6 inch piece of telephone wire and pull all 4 of the wires out ,,, strip 1 inch off either side of 2 of the wires , solider the wires on either side of the resister to lengthen it tape up with electrical tape ,

unplug the ICP connector and look at it it will have like 2 eyes and a mouth stick one end in the right eye and the other in the mouth Then plug it back in and your done ,

Start it up if it lopes like a huge cam you have the thing in the left eye ,

If its idles a bit higher than normal you did it right this increases your Injectors Fuel Pressures ,

The Only code i have seen was an Over Boost code as the more fuel is spooling the charger better

I stacked with a Superchips BAD IDEA truck ran like crap dont stack a 10k mod

Thats it Bomb your ride for a quarter

I ran the adjustable 10k for about 6 months. It's a noticable difference over stock and worth the money to build yourself. I was stupid and bought one of the $100 jobbies ...would have been better off putting the $100 towards a real chip.

My husband did this on his truck and a friends truck it is very easy to do but with one bad slip you could be spending alot of money. You need to make sure you have a very very steady hand.

It made a slight change in both trucks but nothing huge. Still for as cheap as it is why not do it.

never heard of this before, but not much of a powerstroke guy. What exactly is it for? Is it just a cheap way to more fuel?

it tricks the ICP (injection pressure control sensor) to thinking that the pressure to the injectors is low so it bumps it up and pushes in a little bit more fuel, all it is is a 10k resistor that you put on one of the wires on the ICP
