I was just thinking 12valve for simplicity and cost effectiveness. Wouldn't be as much wiring to do with a 12 valve either. either way...better than a powerstroke. and to top it off it is always a nice conversation starter..."Hey man how do I get my powerstroke to sound like that?"

Don't worry about your tranny, you already have the best tranny on the block hands down. The touqueshift is bullet proof.
Unless of course it has loads of miles and abuse on it like the engine apperantly had.
Bulletproof? Lets put 500hp in front of it and see how long it lasts. Pretty much all the stock trannys are bulletproof up to 500hp. BTW- the engine wasnt abused, it blew a cooling system nipple.

How bulletproof they are depends upon the driving style, doesn't take much to tear up a tranny if ya treat them rough.

500 hp is abuse. Abuse meaning working it realy hard or modding it to do more than what it was engineered to do.
The Ford touqueshift is the toughest tranny out there today in stock form.
The Ally is tough but the torqushift is an ally and then a little more.
Do the engine swap, a cummins combined with that tranny you got would be the ultimate powertrain.

These power plants were designed and engineered to handle well over what they are rated for thats how you get longevity and reliability. 500hp is nowhere near abuse for the modern turbo diesel. These engine's resemble pro mod motors on the internals and the limits have already been found of the big three. Unfortunately the tranny's are the weak link but the technology is catching up.
Slap a DMax/Alli in that puppy and you wont go wrong.

Well, the truck is 100% stock and if abuse is useing the truck within it's own weight ratings, then I guess the 30' empty flated that he was towing when this happened means it was abused. I thought Fords could handle the pressure....I guess not.

I simply asked a few questions, that were mostly answered. Thanks for that. If this guy was a hammerhead I would of said that in my origional post, please don't speculate things right off the batt. Some people do actually buy these trucks to work everyday.

Okay, now your talking motors and I'm talking trannys. 500 hp on a stock tranny be it chevy, Ford or Dodge is abusive unless some upgrades are made to the tranny.
