All those motors do is spin a generator and all of the gen sets that I've ever installed are in the V config even Cummins! V's are better suited for those conditions higher rpm more compact design for the power output and just look at the displacement on the motor..... Once the gen set is spinnin at 2000rpm thats it, it just has to maintain the rpm. The last one I installed was a v16 Cat. When we did the load test on it with the whole hospital on it, it was showing only 15% load on the motor......

obviously you havent paid much attention to chevrolets looks for the last 5 years. you wanna talk about ugly. whoever the dumbass engineer was that thought up putting avalanche headleads and hoods on a truck needs to be shot in the face.

Yeah if i agree trucks are supposed to ride like trucks there not supposed to be nice and smooth and comfortable yeah its nice but if your really worried about ride and all that buy a car
I wish ford would of built an inline 6 because yes they do have alot more torgue in the bottom end of the RPM range and are alot more durable to what we do to them now a days, you can run 800 HP on the stock bottom end of a cummins without ever dropping the oil pan

Well, all the motor talk aside. I think the big three are losin sight of what 90% of the real world uses these trucks for. Most of us could care less about adjustable footpedals, plush interiors and other useless junk like that. I HATE HATE HATE the carpet in my truck and would put a vinyl floor in it tomorrow if I could find one. But they need to get back to no nonsense work trucks. I mean look at the new Chevy's. We've got the 2500's here in Iraq as lease trucks, the metal on the beds is so thin that they're creasing from LITERALLY people sitting on the bed rail!!!!! BRING BACK OLD SCHOOL WORK TRUCKS!!!!!!!! A little note for the Cummins fans that always use the inline is beter line, Cummins is coming out with V6 and V8 engines for there trucks and SUV, and I will bet the inline 6.7 is on on borrowed time, just a hunch.

Of course they are used in other apps other than gen. sets, I was just saying in the train and big mining trucks that's its purpose. Not knockin the v design at all, just sharing my experience with the v motor in gen. set apps. I could care less what badge is on the grill of a diesel truck, were all on the same team doing what we love: driving, bombin and enjoying our trucks!
Back on topic..... How about that new Ford diesel that will hopefully be a good investment for the company!?
