I didn't even know they built 4R100's anymore.
BTS is the top 4R100 people IMO.
I'm interested to hear/see more on your truck too, sounds awesome. I can't believe you're having issues with it too, what kind of power are you making? They're running 4R100's behind some of the strongest 6.4's out there.

I like the 4r if your hot roddin,my builder is known for ford, cummins, allison combos(but for another 12.5k, i don't tow that much) Bts is good and I thought Elite would be good seeing how, damn near every ford in the diesel power challenge this year had elites tranny. And I live in Colorado where Elite is also, this tranny is suppose to handle 750 with a 200 shot of nos and I'm at 550hp and want a coumpond with a 72mm, 90's and Bd's new 6.7 cp3 coming out next year. I posted some pics, I'll post more soon.

Yeah it should still hold together. I wonder if there is an issue with the stand alone controller maybe? Did you set up the shifting for it? Did it seem to shift fine until issues arose or have there always been issues with it? Elite can definitely be hard to get a hold of, but if you get on powerstrokearmy there area few guys there that can help you out for sure.

I just spoke with J.D. from Elite on Facebook, he said call him and dial his extension at 105. If you don't get him, leave a voicemail, the way he made it sound he hadn't heard anything.
Is your name Dwayne? Sounds like JD has already spoke to you and your truck is supposed to be there by the 12th so they can pull it and look at it???
He said he spoke with you and is waiting to hear from you about making a time to drop it off before the 12th? He literally just checked his voicemail and said he hasn't heard anything from you (Dwayne).
Are you Dwayne, or is Dwayne your builder who is contacting them? Either way, sounds like Elite is waiting to hear from you. Destroked built your truck right??? Just want to make sure we have the same guy. JD said you can call him and use his extension if you have any questions.

Well I'm goin in soon, I have talked with them as of last week. I hope it holds and I have a tune by my builder, so I can get on it and yet still be able to tow if I had to. There was a tune on it at first, which was nasty, but would of been to hard on towing. Not that i really do, but would like the option.

Who's doing the tuning?
As for the 4R100, tuning helps kind of, but it's really a dumb trans so to speak (in a good way) and it uses a stand alone PCS controller, especially in an application like this to tell it when to shift and what not. It's user adjustable, pretty cool actually. A lot of the 6.4's running them (I'm talking 1300ish rwhp trucks) use the same setup, PCS controller and a 4R100 to put the power down. Less shifts than the 5R110 and longer gears means it puts more of a load on the engine and wha-la, more boost. Plus it makes nice solid shifts, instead of the electronic transmissions going between different gears and what not. (The 5R110 is basically like two separate three speed transmissions).

Destroked is doing the tune there are a few different versions, the ones crazy and damn near unstreetable. The other is where I am now and it puts it down when it actually holds. I have talked to JD and I am suppose to be down there on the 12th, I'll call him again and confirm, but I thought I was just to be down there on the 12th
. The 5r has the same ratios just more bs.

The 5R is a 6 speed electonically controlled, hydrualically activated trans, way different. Even though OD may be roughly the same ratios... way different setups in the way they shift and drive. Most guys I see who do cummins swaps and stick with the 5R end up regretting it. It seems to work great behind the 6.0 and the 6.4, but put it behind anything else and try to do the stand alone controller on it... never seems to work right. You have to love the simplicity of the 4R with the PCS controller. Hope you get it all worked out man! Let us know how it holds up. Have any pics of this truck yet?
