Default how many miles is too many

im looking to get another diesel truck and was just wondering how many miles are ok to buy a truck at with out haveing to sink every thing i have into after buying it. i dont know if their are any differences in motors but i am trying to look at dodge 12 or 24v, ford 7.3 or chevy 6.6. if any one has any advice it would be a great help.

it all depends on how they took care of it mine had 200k on it and i had to put a new tranny and other things because it was a dealer truck that hauled 5k every day so you need to know how it was used if its highway only no pulling or city no pulling millage doesn't matter as much as when someone who hauls 5k miles everyday in Virginia or west Virginia . i know someone who has 350k miles on his highway no hauling and it runs like a champ of course small repairs alternator belts ect . its just how it was handled . ive seen a 7.3 with 500k miles on it and still on original motor and tranny now i know this is rare but it just shows how if you take care of it, it will last you a long time. take the time before you buy to look over and drive the trucks you should know what feels wrong or right

All of those are good motors... Different years of each motor have different problems issues though

It all depends what was done with the truck and how it was maintained! BUT if I was to get a newer truck with emissions, I would try to get it with lower miles unless they were already deleted! Good luck man!
