Default 7.3 turbo damaged

Hey guys. I thought id join up here to ask a question about the garrett turbo on the 7.3L . Over the weekend a friend and myself installed a set of glowshift gauges on my 01. We had to drill into the exhaust manifold to install the probe. Well with my luck, the smallest piece of the dewalt bit broke off. We looked and looked even probed around inside with a magnet. No luck. right away when i left his place i could tell something wasnt right with the turbo. The truck still has power but does not seem to have the suction that it did in the intake and the turbo is alot louder in the cab. Also sounds very chattery outside and not a solid whine. what would be the next step to take from here? I think I'm gonna have to yank it.

Moved down here for more views for you...

I would not be too worried about the drill bit piece, doubtful if anything happened to the exhaust side of the turbo, very doubtful.

What I would check now is where ever you tied in the boost gauge, more then likely you have a leak at this location.

Check there and get back.

depending on the size of the piece it could be rattling around in the turbine housing. Seen that happen once. Sounded like a rock in a fan. Piece couldnt get out since the blades were spinning. Put a socket on the compressor and held it with a breaker bar while we reved the hell outa it and with the blades still the piece finally found its way out the down pipe. If that doesnt work youre going to need to pull the turbo

FYI... the compressor wheel is not a performance product. It helps stop surge, actually moves slightly less air for a given RPM then the stock wheel...

Tubro spins free and theres little to no play . Thats a good sign . today installed the wicked wheel and wastegate. the problem is definatey in the exhaust turbine and its not getting any better so I'm calling the service center where i take it for bigger repairs and im just gonna have em' fix her up the right way. I miss the way it used to sound already but I'm gonna get er fixed.

you can't do it yourself? pull the exhaust outlet off and fish around with a magnet.

I dont think theres anything in the turbo. I think the fins are messed up tho on the turbine wheel because it is loosing power.
