Bad mileage at cruising speeds
I did a quick check on other threads with no luck. Here's the deal, I drive interstae alot. At cruising speeds (75- 80 MPH) I'm lucky to get 12 mpg. I realize I'm not going to get 20 in a 8K pickup but it just seems low to me. The mods are in my sig. It doesn't make a difference on what setting I have the chip on either. Let me know what you guys think.
like everyone saying there is a HUGE drop once ur over 65 or 70. if for some reason it doesnt change you might check your fuel filter (i gained 1-1.5mpg when i bought my truck by changing it bc the previous owner never did)
I was once told that the sweet spot for the 7.3 is between 1750 and 1900 RPM if you keep the truck in that zone your going to get your best mileage... I have found this to be true with my truck...
1900 RPM would be about 60 on mine. The fuel filter is fine, I checked it about a week ago. Now I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but according to the gauge, when the water temp is in the normal, the engine still sounds cold. Similar to a OBS when it's cold. Any ideas on this?
