Default loping

I have an early 99 F350 7.3L. The heui pump was puking oil and I had a local dealer tell me the PCM was bad... Truck ran ok, but it would just randomly shut down with no set pattern. Tried another dealer and they said the pcm seemed ok, but replace the heui pump for obvious reasons. Just got it back together and now she is loping like a muscle car at idle. As soon as u touch the throttle it clears right up. Its kinda my wifes truck, and she refused to let me test drive it. Any ideas? Money is real tight right now and I hate to take it to a deal again...

Also, there are no dumby lights on.

How many miles since they replaced the HPOP? Sometimes it takes some time to get the air out of the system.

I got the hpop on last weekend. The backpressure sensor tube was completelt clogged so I started cleaning it out and found two cracks in it. I just got the new in today and installed it. She fired off great and I figured on some air pockets, so I let it run a bit. After about 2 minutes at idle it started loping real bad.

At idle it will take for ever to clear out the air... Take it out and romp on it a bit...

That's what I figured, but my wife said no, its her toy. We ve had it for 5 years now. It has an edge juice with attitude, a fresh set of 3.73 LS gears and a hand built trans with triple disc convertor. It needs more air tho... Its had issues since day one (190K miles) now it has 250K miles on it. I just don't have the time nor the money to do it right. It runs circle around my 6.0, but the 6.0 is a manual heavy dually which is our main tow rig and long haul ride. It dog it some 2moro b4 she gets home from work. We'll see what's up... Above idle, it has a way better exhaust tone than before.

Will do! Thank ya'll! I know the old stuff. My idi turbo and the cummins I just got, and such like. Computers just throw me for a loop. Last year, my 6.0 had three dead holed, and no check engine light come on and a snap on modis showed everthing was ok. She was down on power and drop mpg from 17 to 10... Luckily, it was just a hair b4 the warranty went out.... I grew up on transmissions and went of to diesel school. I worked for a detroit diesel distributor on their two strokes for awhile and got layed off in 09. No I fix plow/spreader trucks for a global company. I will post after some fuel is burned tomorrow evening! Thanks a bunch!

Could be a sticky/bad IPR valve. If your HPO pressure is to high at idle it'll lope like a drag car. A scanner to show the duty cycle of the IPR might be relieving too. shouldnt be over 12-14%ish but air is more probable of a cause.

Regulator is new also. Wife had truck towed to shop today while I was at work and will not tell me which one. So, this project is on hold possibly forever once I give her the boot...
