When you did the buzz test was the buzz really loud of faint? It should be loud on all 8. My boss has an 02 that when I do the buzz test it has a loud buzz from only 2 or 3 of the 8 and it takes almost a minute of cranking with the block heater plugged in to start and it only runs on 3 for another 45 or so seconds till it warms the other injectors enough for the poppet valves to work and start running properly.

It kind of sounds like a HPO problem. I used an old high pressure dive gauge as a manual HPO tester. The dive hoses have a 7/16 fitting and the fittings in the cylinder head are 1/2 fine thread o-ring fitting. Dive shops carry an adapter fitting from 7/16 to 1/2 because some of the older regulators used 1/2. That would confirm that the sender is telling the ecm the right pressure. You have to have at least 500 psi to start and it runs around 500 at idle and up to 3000 at high throttle.

Been playing with AE still don't know how to use it that well. Bit I ran a test on board system. Did key on engine off got P1280 P0470 P1298. Cleared code ran test again all 3 codes came back. Any ideas? Is there a way to see if IDM is getting power or if its toast?

The best thing you can do is really get an understanding of how these high pressure oil fired injector systems work. The more you understand the operation of the system the more you will be able to make sense of the AE information. If you search this site you can find a lot of good information about the way they operate and diagnostic procedures for different problems and parts of the system. There are also downloadable trouble code sheets in the stickys which are very helpful.

Ive read thread after thread trying but just came get it. Replaced CPS, went to junk yard got a IDM off a 99 and still nothing. tryed unplugging every senor i can think of I think im gonna have to call it quits and take it to the ford dealer down the road. worrys me a little because there isnt many diesel trucks around here. Hopefully they wont lighten my wallet to much. Im gonna try nd unpug the fuel bowl heater in the morning just to try and if that doesnt work i guess see if my buddy will drag it for me
