have you yet discovered what this clunking, banging under feet is? I am having the same exact problem, randomly clanking and clunking and you can tell that its on something turning and fluxuates depending on speed. I have a 2000 f350 4x4 crew cab dually doing this and I cannot find anything wrong!!!! I have replaced carrier bearing checked wat seems like everything it could be under there. my truck has 412,347 miles on it and many more to come(if I can resolve this issue)

I had the a clunking on my 2002 f250 powerstroke and I replaced my sway bad and sway bar link bushings and it was gone, I used the energy suspension kit that was like $40. Worked beautifully, no more clunk.

I already had links and sway bar replaced. I just cant figure it out. has me a lil uneasy because my truck sees about 600 miles a week!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

my clanking is not like hitting a bump and clunk in the floorboard, its something that is turning, the clunking speeds up and slows down with speed. and it only does it sometimes. not constant. I drove it most of today and it only did it twice. once travelling at about 45 and once at powerstroke highway speed! it has me boggled and worried.

Check the ball joints out. I have that on my 99 I replace them the clunk goes away. When they wear out the clunk comes back. It's a pain. But I also use my truck as a truck.

Ive had what sounds like the same issue, when accelerating it was almost like a "thwak, thwack, thwak' sound, that I could feel on the floor board under my feet. especialy while driving on less than perfect roads.
So i went ahead and replaced the shocks with ones that were a little stiffer. I no longer have that particular sound, however I now have a very audible and physical clank in the same general area when ever I step on the brake pedal, while attempting to stop from any speed greater than 15mph.
To me it makes sence that it might be the stock bushings mentioned above.

I had the same problem with my Excursion. It turned out that the springs had settled over time, and they only cleared the bump-stops by about 3/4" static. When I would hit a bump it had a thunk under the front seats.I cut the bumps down to confirm that the sagging springs caused the problem. No more thunk...

I plan to replace the front springs with a 2.5" leveling kit as the permanent fix.

Just picked up a E99 last week and the PO had just recently replaced everything and added a 2.5" level kit. it had a serious clunk that sounded like it was bottoming out on something but figured ...Front end alignment and anti-sway bar bushing replacement cured it 100%. The bushing had at least 1/8" gap and now its tight. All clunks gone.
