Default weird grinding noise

i have a 2002 f350 4x4 crew cab long bed and it got hit in the rear so i replaced the rearend drive shaft driver breaks rims and bed and now when im driving i randomly get a grinding sound but it comes and goes all the time.... sounds like a dust guard rubbing on a rotor but i checked everything and none rub at all. sounds like its coming from rear driver tire area. but i put the truck on jack stands put it in drive checked everywhere to find the noise and nothing but then 2 miles down the road it grinds for 15 seconds then stops if any one could help its a shot in the dark but anything will help

When you said brakes did you replace the pads or the calipers? Judging by what you said I’m guessing the calipers needed replaced if no maybe there not releasing all the way. This is just a shot in the dark. Though it might help.

They can be very temperamental. I had to replace all 4 on my rig. Had a grinding noise in front end and truck would pull to right hard every time i would get on the brakes. Replaced noise went away and she stops straight and on a dime. Well ok a Quarter. Try replacing the rear calipers, it might help and there not too pricy. Just a little messy to swap out.

I know this sounds completely unrelated, but i installed a 4" exhaust and it would rub on my shock and give me grinding noise of sorts. Does it happen at certain vehicle speed? because if not i would look into something other then brakes/ wheels/ tires so on.
