Default got a good 7.3 story for all interested.

So the other day one of my friends pulls up in a clean 99 extcb.flatbed. he's all stoked and frankly i didn't even relize it was him because prior he drove a 91 Ford gasser. he proceeds to tell me that this 99 7.3 is his new truck and he got it for damn near nothing. the prior owner and his friend had replaced a bunch of S$$t because one day the truck just up and died; after replacing all they thought they could replace and still no start they concluded the motor was blown up (200,000 on the odo BTW). So they gave the title over to the present owner who originally figured it would be a parts truck since "The motor was blown". after he got the title and paid less than 2000 for some storage fee; He thought what the hell, maybe the motor ain't blown. Asked around a bit and decided to replace the cam sensor. SOB fired right up after replacing the cam sensor . As of right now I know he changed all the fluids cleaned the snott out of it had to fix some wires, but not much, wait the story gets better. he goes over to his friends house to show off his new 7.3 who also had a 7.3. he gets there and finds out his friend traded in his 7.3 for a newer 6.4...But before he traded it in he took off the new tires and new batteries and sold all of that stuff for dirt cheap back to him. So My friend got a very decent diesel pick-up with new tires and batteries and he's probably into it for less than 3 grand. I was pretty excited for him when I heard about all this and thought i'd share a good story.

I concur, with the excpetion of the guy he got the title from is kind of the town weasel, pretty sure this guy would auction off his own kids to a communist country if the price was right. scary thing too is that this guy alleges to be able to run heavy equipment as well, I'm just curious who's crank he was turning when he came to his conclusion . I know the 7.3 cam sensor may not necessarily be a general knowledge thing but even with basic problem sovling skills and asking around it is a solvable problem, which the guy who owns it now did, i'd say he deserves it a hell of a lot more than the first guy anyhow. I better stop the slamming now before karma bites me on the ***, but just as Ron White has said "You can't fix stupid!"

I know a guy who bought a 93 dodge 3/4 ton cummins. Nice clean truck. got it for 500 bucks. All that was wrong with the truck was that it was jelled up. No joke!!

What would be things to check for on a 7.3 with 475K on it?
