as stated in title i have a strange sound at wot between 2800-3000 rpm it sounds like maybe the turbo? it almost a tweet sound or a flutter/twitter sound idk how to describe it, ive never heard something like it. what yall think?
im having the guy i bought it from look at it hes an auto tech teacher and see what he thinks.

Could it be the tensioner pulley thing? I popped the hood while it was idling yesterday and it's moving back and forth a little and sounds like it's knocking.

 

have someonee hold the throttle about 2500 and look at it. see how much it jumps around. i know mine moves a little at an idle but not ver much. do you have a problem with your belt walking off the pulley?

 

Had my teacher look at it he said it's an exhaust leak coming from the manifolds. He said he had the same thing on his 99 and he said he couldn't figure it out till he pulled the engine to rebuild it and noticed how much the manifold shrank. He said it's normal in for 7.3's. So I will be ordering ceramic coated oem manifold from riffraff soon.

 

if you can swing the price try some headers, i want to do some on mine but cash is wrapped up elsewhere, they sound soooo sick with headers

 

Get the bellowed up pipes, almost every 7.3l I have seen has leaking up pipes.

 

if it's a leak between the manifold and head. just get a set of gaskets. i think carquest carries them. international never put them on from the factory.

 

I don't think I'll be able to swing the cash for headers. Who carries then anyways?
Will they make more boost?
How hard are the manifolds to pull and replace about as bad as the uppipes just much heavier?
