Default No electronics on steering wheel

I just bought this truck and nothing electronic works on the steering wheel, no horn and no cruise and the air bag light goes on and off at random times. It has some sort of alarm, I think he said it was a viper alarm, goes off if you hit the door lock button twice, not sure if these are tied in any way. I know the previous owner could have done anything but is there a common problem with these?

sounds like the clock spring is broke. get it fixed because it wont take much to set off that airbag when you dont want it to go off.

Where is it and what does it do? Can I fix it myself?

you have to pull the steering wheel to replace it. PM CSIPSD and ask him about it. he just changed one a few weeks ago.

Wait, is the clock spring like the muffler bearing?

I thought the very same thing, either muffler bearings or Fetzer Valve.

Go down to Napa and tell them you want a clock spring for a 2000 F-250... IIRC it was about $80 bucks.

Disconnect the Battery's, unbolt the air bag from the steering wheel and remove. Remove steering wheel. Unplug and remove old clock spring, install new. Reinstall steering wheel and air bag.

Its not that hard, I had never done one and was a bit nervous removing the ignition and such, but it would take me less then an hour to do another one.
