Default 99 F350 Boost question

I installed a boost gauge on my truck. I hooked it up between the map sensor hose and intercooler housing. The gauge only reads 2psi when the truck is running at 3000 rpm. Can someone tell me what the boost gauge should read and what I need to check for

I drove the truck to work this morning. the gauge would read 3 psi driving at 60 mpr. Also the gauge that I installed is a vacuum / boost gauge if that makes a difference. Please let me know.

When I step on the throttle the gauge will go up to about 10 psi
