If that was foot to the floor...You have a boost leak, you need to find where that is. Could be in the intake plenums... could be in the intercooler system...Could be a dusted turbo...

I noticed that I have an exhaust leak on the drivers side on the down pipe. Would that be the problem. because when I tow a 35' LQ horse trailer I have very little power going up hill and the turbo does not kick in.

If your leak is after the turbo in the downpipe, that won't make a difference... What kind of intake do you have? When you say turbo does not kick in going uphill...Does that mean no boost or what?

The intake is stock. On the turbo there is just power. Before when I would go up hill with the trailer you could hear the turbo kick in Now there is nothing. The exhaust leak is at the top by the turbo

Take the intake boot off the drivers side of the turbo and inspect the compressor wheel. Are the edges sharp or does it look like something threw rocks towards it while it was spinning at 20000rpm? Also, move the shaft side to side and in and out...Is there any play in the shaft. Some side to side is OK...In and out is a bad thing...

I checked the turbo for any play there is very let play side to side no in - out play the turbo wheel has no marks on it and is very clean. all the intercooler boots have been checked and I replaced two of them about a moth ago. I was told that if there was an exhaust leak that would cause the turbo not to work the way it should . Please help me to fine the problem.

check on the y pipe for any soot build up. another thing worth trying is (if the truck can blow black smoke) pop the hood and have someone else hit the throttle while u look for any smoke coming out.

Ok just checked the y pipe for soot build up. The firewall showed very little soot. I did find that the clamp that connects the exhaust to the turbo was loose and one of the clamps for the intercooler boot on top of the engine was loose. Is there any thing else i should look for.

check all your intercooler boots and clamps, and intake manifold boots and clamps, make sure they are all tight and that there isn't any tears in the boots, and also check that V-band clamp on the turbo, its the one thats on the left side that connects it to the up pipes and manifolds

and also that o-ring thats on your intake manifold, my manifold cracked where it connects to the turbo and was causing a boost leak, so do all that then check back with us and let know what you did or did not find :tu:
