I picked up a little battery maintainer last night just for ***** and giggles, plugged it into my cig lighter overnight... WOW!

Normally I am not back up to 14v until I hit the jobsite in the morning. Today I was there before I even got on to the main road. I am going to hard wire the little connector that comes with it to the battery and let it hang down by the block heater.

Black and Decker BM3B...

I run Wal-Mart 950's as well. My alternator croaked during a cross country trip in Dec. 2009 and drained the batteries to nothing...a new alt. and a jumpstart, and those "crap/sucky" Wal-Mart still are still going strong.

Gunmag are these batteries isolated from each other?or parallel?
if they are parallel go back to the dealer and get the second one also for free. Because they have to match in size, CCA's and age.
If not the older, weaker one will kill or drain the better one to the lower level.
This is a known fact...

Yes, the batteries run in parallel. The trucks electrical systems aren't designed for 24V that would result from running in series.

I thought about sticking a starter solenoid in between the 2 batteries and then thought better of it as the idea of the 1 live battery drawing down the isolated "offline" battery when its running stopped me. So now I'm just a jerk and every year just before winter I draw the batteries down 3 times and then complain to Exide that they're crap and get 2 new ones under their warranty. Its worked 3 times now. Only 850ccA though
