..i aint never had any probs with the truck, it gets used daily on farm and doin construction...neighbors have a big dairy farm, they run all 3 brands, and still the oldest trucks they have are the dodges...and they get put thru pure hell with them boys...dodge needs to do a truck commercial with them....

 

i think id rather worry bout changing glow plugs than a tranny and or motor or body parts on a cummins

 

10mm is the size you will need for the glow plugs.

11mm deep for the intercooler hose clamps
13mm for the valve cover bolts (you'll need a 13mm wrench for a couple of them)
10mm for the engine harness connector
Needle nose pliers for the glow plug harness connectors
8mm for the CCV in the intake and the intake hose clamps

 

i was just about to ask how to change glow plugs thanks for the info.

 

do i need new valve cover gaskets to change glow plugs on a 1999 7.3

 

Well I needed to ether my truck this morning at 7*F to get it to start so what are the torque specs on the GPs?

i think like 28 ft/lbs. but just snug. check the relay first, and DON'T USE EITHER!!

 

Do you have to replace valve cover gaskets when you do this? Guy I got a quote from said you shouldn't have to other guy said yes because electrical goes through there. There 100 for replacement or I saw riffraff had them for like 60 a piece.
