how do i change glow plugs???
so i ordered my glow plugs yesterday and now im waiting on em, so i wanting to find out how ta change em before they get here, will i loose oil?

Remove IC tubes, Remove Valve covers, remove Glow plugs, reinstall glow plugs, reinstall Valve covers, reinstall IC tubes...
Done. Use a 1/4" drive to remove them, a deep socket gets hung up on the rockers from time to time, Snap on makes a mid length for them that is slick as hell, but I bet Sears would sell the same. If I think of it tomorrow I will snap a pic of the socket. (it may be at home thou) |
all i have ta do is unplug em , and just use a socket ta bust em loose and finish threading em out?
Yup... easy cheesy.
alright sweet!!!! thanks
Easy as that. I did mine when I installed injectors. I primed and painted my IC tubes while they were out too.
ya im thinking about that too, im thinking a type of blue since my truck is blue and all, i figured a nice ocean blue, i have a couple cans laying around lol
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- what size are the glow plugs? |
That I don't remember, not very big though. A basic SAE/Metric socket set with deepwells is all I ever use. I lay it open on my fuel bowl cover and the size I need is just a short reach away LOL
haha alright, but you do have ta use deepwells?
or just get a cummins, and dont have to worry bout glow plugs!!:tu:
